Italy’s lamentable World Cup qualifying rout took an acrid turn on the substitutes seat as Sweden drained the life out of Italy in the second leg at San Siro.
Head coach Gian Piero Ventura, who is set to leave in the wake of seeing his side held to a 0-0 attract Milan, seemed to have lost the confidence of his senior players in the last stages.
Daniele De Rossi was gotten on camera whining to individuals from the Italy staff. He was advised to warm up and responded with outrageous aggravation.
De Rossi disclosed to Ventura’s right hand: ‘Why the f*** should I go on?’ And indicated Lorenzo Insigne should be brought on before him.
De Rossi attempted to play down the occurrence, demanding that it was nothing individual against Ventura.
‘We tend to warm up three at any given moment, at that point following five minutes we change and another three go,’ he revealed to Rai Sport.
‘I just said we were close to the end and needed to win, so send the strikers to warm up. I indicated Insigne as well.
‘It wasn’t dependent on me whether it was a strategic issue. I’m sad in the event that I affronted anybody. At the time It just an idea maybe it was better that Insigne goes ahead.’
After Italy’s destiny was affirmed De Rossi, alongside other final individuals from the 2006 World Cup winning squad Gianluigi Buffon and Andrea Barzagli, resigned from international football.
