Arsenal are not keen to do a deal with United for £35m-rated Sanchez unless they get the Armenian in return and according to Mkhitaryan’s agent Raiola, he hasn’t yet made up his mind.
United are keen to proceed, but it is now down to Mkhitaryan to decide what happens next.
Sanchez is expected to leave Arsenal this month, with the Gunners keen to cash in before his contract expires in the summer, but the destination is not clear.
Raiola revealed to The Times
‘Manchester United wouldn’t sign Sanchez unless Mkhi consents to join Arsenal.’
‘Mkhi has not chosen yet. Mkhi will do what is best for him. He has more than two years left on his contract, so it’s his choice.
The midfielder was left out for United’s squad for the 3-0 win against Stoke on Monday, with Jose Mourinho stressed his concentration would be influenced by the speculation.
It has likewise been reported that any
deal could be a straight swap as opposed to include transfer fee.
The Times revealed that Raiola has gone to Arsenal’s training ground to talk about the deal for Mkhitaryan in the January window, albeit no decision has yet been made.
Manchester City were front-runners, but are now understood to have backed away from a deal, initially leaving Manchester United with a clear run.
That has now been muddied slightly by the arrival of Chelsea and their late pursuit. Antonio Conte is keen on the player and has enquired.
