Real Madrid are weighing up a summer move for either Thibaut Courtois or David de Gea as they chase a new No 1 for next season.
The European champions are desperate for an upgrade on current goalkeeper Keylor Navas and have their eyes set on the Premier League duo.
And they want the Chelsea shot-stopper to stall on a new Stamford Bridge to give them thinking time, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Chelsea are hopeful the Belgian will sign an extension to his contract that runs out in 2019, but there has been little progress so far.
Real plan on making a decision over their No 1 summer transfer target by April.
The Spanish giants have courted Manchester United star De Gea in the past but may see Courtois as more attainable.
After the 1-1 Champions League draw with Barcelona on Tuesday, the Belgium international moved to quash talk of a departure from England.
He said: ‘I’m not clear about my future, what I said that my heart is in Madrid was misunderstood.
‘I have two children in Spain, in Madrid, and that’s not easy. I have one year left (here) and I’m happy and talking to Chelsea.
‘They have bet on me from the first moment and that is not forgotten.
‘I do not think Florentino Perez calls me, he will call my agent and he will listen to him.’
