Paulinho has been given a warm welcome back to China after rejoining Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande on loan from Barcelona.
The Brazil international midfielder was greeted by enthusiastic supporters and the media as he touched down in Guangzhou on Sunday and was even handed a bouquet of flowers.
The loan deal with his former club is initially one year in length but it is believed to include a mandatory purchase clause worth £44.2million at the end of the season.
Paulinho enjoyed a successful season with Barcelona, scoring nine goals in 49 appearances across all competitions and winning the La Liga title, he never truly settled.
He met with his agent in Barcelona after arriving back from Kazan, where Brazil were eliminated from the World Cup by Belgium on July 6.
The 29-year-old played 73 minutes of that quarter-final but couldn’t prevent the tournament favourites from crashing out.
Barcelona paid £36.5m to sign Paulinho from Guangzhou in the summer of 2017, having spent two-and-a-half years in China after an unsuccessful spell at Tottenham Hotspur.
