Juan Cuadrado has asked fans to vote for his new shirt number after the Juventus star lost his No 7 jersey to new arrival, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Cuadrado brought some fun to an awkward situation after being forced into giving up his No 7 shirt. He let fans on Twitter pick which number he should take instead, giving them four options.
Ronaldo was unveiled as a Juventus player on Monday and his arrival could shunt Cuadrado out of the starting 11 as well as the No 7 shirt.
Cuadrado initially took to Twitter to tell fans he had given his jersey to Ronaldo, folliowing the £100m deal to bring the Portuguese star from Real Madrid.
The 30-year-old held up the Ronaldo No 7 shirt and said: ‘More blessed is to give than to receive; @cristiano many blessings in this new adventure.’
He then followed up that initial post by giving fans the opportunity to vote on his new number, with a Twitter poll.
Cuadrado gave fans the options of No’s 16, 21, 49 and 10 and said: ‘And now … What number for next season?’
The Colombian tagged Paolo Dybala in the poll, who currently wears the No 10 shirt as he joked it was a potential option for him.
The poll received over 150,000 votes and the winning number was 49 with 34 per cent of the vote, but Cuadrado is yet to confirm which new number he will take.
Cuadrado was forced into giving up the No 7 following Ronaldo’s shock arrival to Serie A.
Ronaldo was in Turin on Monday to complete a deal worth over £100million to move to Juventus, ending nine successful years at the Bernabeu.
The 33-year-old underwent a medical ahead of finalising his transfer and will sign a four-year contract worth around £500,000-per-week.
He will be unveiled as Juventus player at 5.30pm BST on Monday.
