Callum Hudson-Odoi will get his chance to impress in the Premier League this year, Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has confirmed.
The 17-year-old has been one of the standout players for Chelsea during their pre-season and he impressed once more against Arsenal at the Aviva Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Stamford Bridge youngsters are used to picking up their first-team opportunities on loan, however, Sarri has said Hudson-Odoi will stick with him for the coming campaign.
Asked if the talented teenager was ready for first-team football, Sarri replied: ‘Hudson-Odoi is a very young player. We have to wait.
‘In the future he will be a very, very strong player for sure. He will stay with us (in the senior squad) for the season.’
Hudson-Odoi proved a thorn in Arsenal’s side in Ireland, drawing a foul from Hector Bellerin to win his side a penalty.
Striker Alvaro Morata missed from the spot as his difficult time at Chelsea shows no sign of abating, though boss Sarri insists he does not have any concerns about the Spaniard.
‘I don’t know if he is low on confidence,’ he said.
‘Maybe it was hard for the last three days, intense, so maybe this match he was a bit tired. I am not worried about Morata.’
