West Ham have confirmed the signing of striker Lucas Perez in a £10million deal from London rivals Arsenal.
Perez, who has signed a three-year deal, spent just two years at the Emirates Stadium – one of those out on loan at Deportivo – and scored seven goals in 21 appearances.
‘I’m very happy to be here at such an historic club,’ the 29-year-old told the Hammers’ official website. ‘I’m very excited, as West Ham are giving me the chance to stay in the Premier League and I’m very happy to be part of this new project.
West Ham have great fans and play in an amazing stadium, so to sign here brings me great joy. I’m very motivated.’
The confirmation from West Ham came after Jack Wilshere had leaked the deadline-day signing of his former Arsenal team-mate in an Instagram story.
The footage posted by Wilshere shows the Spanish striker wearing the club’s training kit in the dressing room. The official announcement came shortly after.
Perez is West Ham’s eighth signing under new manager Manuel Pellegrini, joining Ryan Fredericks, Lukasz Fabianski, Issa Diop, Wilshere, Andriy Yarmolenko, Fabian Balbuena and Felipe Anderson in making the move to east London.
