Maurizio Sarri has ruled out letting Ruben Loftus-Cheek leave Chelsea on loan.
The England international came off the bench for the final 22 minutes in Chelsea’s 3-0 opening day win over Huddersfield but was not included in their squad for the victory against Arsenal last weekend.
Sarri refused to provide any assurances over the midfielder’s role at Stamford Bridge this season, but insisted he will remain at the club after holding talks with the player.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s trip to Newcastle, Sarri said: ‘I have spoken to him twice this week after I spoke with the club so I think Loftus will remain with us.
‘We can speak again about his situation but only in December.’
The Chelsea boss also addressed Eden Hazard’s desire to make his first start in the Premier League this season and admitted he is considering playing the winger from the get go at St James’ Park.
I think that Eden is ready for 50, 60 minutes. I don’t know for 90 minutes but he could start,’ he said.
‘I am happy with him that he wants to play, I think it is the right way to think for him but I have to think for everybody. And what I think is more important.’
