Free agent Yaya Youre has completed a medical in London, according to his agent Dimitry Seluk.
The Ivorian appears close to sealing a move but his representative only teased that the club is in the nation’s capital, stopping short of revealing the identity of the team.
He wrote: ‘Toure has passed a medical in London. Yaya is close to signing a new contract.’
Seluk then took a swipe at West Ham as supporters attempted to guess where the 35-year-old might end up.
One fan suggested the Hammers and a reunion with former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini.
But Seluk shot him down, writing: ‘It’s not West Ham, 100%. Yaya is a champion. The last place is not for him.’
Pellegrini’s side are currently rooted to the bottom of the table after suffering defeats by Liverpool, Bournemouth and Arsenal.
It seemed plausible that Toure could join the club with his former boss given the amount of money they have spent on recruitment this summer.
But now that Seluk has ruled out the Hammers, fans will have to wait for the big reveal and it seems an announcement will be made sooner rather than later.
