Neymar has been handed a three-match suspension after punching a Rennes supporter in the aftermath of Paris Saint-Germain’s French Cup final defeat.
The Ligue 1 champions saw their hopes of winning another domestic double dashed when Rennes defeated them 9-8 on penalties following a 2-2 draw at Stade de France.
Video then emerged of an incident in which the Brazilian star reacted to a comment by a Rennes supporter as he went to collect his runners-up medal.
He exchanged words with the fan, who was filming him on his mobile phone, and then lashed out.

The French Football Association has announced Neymar will be suspended for three domestic matches with a further two matches suspended.
PSG announced within hours of the decision their intention to appeal.
A club statement said: ‘Considering the insults suffered by several of the Club’s players, including Neymar, at the end of the Coupe de France final, plus the various elements sent by PSG to the disciplinary commission, we consider this sanction severe.’
Meanwhile, Neymar will appeal the separate three-game suspension handed down by UEFA for the Champions League.
He was sanctioned for criticising the match officials during PSG’s defeat to Manchester United in the second leg of the last-16 tie at Parc des Princes.
