Cristiano Ronaldo and Alessandro Florenzi were involved in a heated exchange on Sunday night that led to the Portuguese superstar mocking his opponent’s height.
Tempers flared up between the Juventus forward and Roma defender in the 58th minute of their clash at the Stadio Olimpico with Florenzi angrily squaring up close to Ronaldo.
Ronaldo then put his finger to his lips, gesturing for the Italian to be quiet before mocking his height with another hand signal.
The former Real Madrid man then proceeded to laugh at Florenzi, infuriating the right back, who had to be held back by referee Davide Massa.
According to Marca, Ronaldo ‘told Florenzi to keep quiet, seemingly telling the Italian that he was too short to speak.’
Team-mates had to step between the pair to prevent them from coming to blows as Florenzi then hurled several insults in the direction of Ronaldo.
The diminutive defender went on to have the last laugh though as he scored to help Roma boost their Champions League hopes with a 2-0 win over the Serie A champions-elect.
Captain Florenzi fired Roma ahead 11 minutes from time with a composed finish after Ronaldo had a strike was ruled out by VAR for offside.
