Cameroon FA sack manager Clarence Seedorf

Clarence Seedorf relieves from duty as the coach of Indomitable Lions of Cameroon following their elimination from the 2019 AFCON.

Cameroonian Minister of Sports, Narcisse Mouelle Kombia announced on television that Seedorf was sacked with “immediate effect” because he is not “the ideal man to train the Indomitable Lions”.

Kombi accused Seedorf of “failing to manage the team” and of having problems with his assistant Patrick Kluivert who has since revealed that he is interested in holding the head coach role rather than be an assistant.

Before heading for Egypt, Seedorf’s future had been a topic of discussion as aside from the Lions’ nondescript showing in qualifying, his preference to work from outside Cameroon and only visit the country for a few days (for matches) has not gone down well with locals.

After the tournament, the former AC Milan player and coach has also been accused by Russian-based midfielder Petrus Boumal of unfairness in his squad selection for the competition.
