Romelu Lukaku has hinted at the prospect of a transfer move by posting a teasing message on social media alongside an image of the striker with his agent.
The Belgian forward has been heavily linked with a move away from Manchester United this summer, with Inter considered the front-runner for his signature. And Lukaku has now further fuelled speculation by Tweeting a photo of himself with his agent Federico Pastorello, accompanied by the caption ‘soon to be continued’.
United are demanding £80million for the striker in order to recoup the £75m outlay that first brought the forward to the club from Everton in 2017.
Inter have so far struggled to match United’s valuation and Sky Sports have reported that Juventus are poised to hijack the deal. They are prepared to offer one of either Paulo Dybala or Douglas Costa to help reduce the cost of signing Lukaku, although Sportsmail has revealed that neither player are overly keen on the move.
United have switched their attentions to Costa due to Dybala’s reticence, but after a strong preseason, the Brazilian is eager to stay in Turin.
However, he could have his head turned by the prospect of a star billing at United, which he won’t get with Cristiano Ronaldo at the Allianz Stadium.
Lukaku flew home from United’s summer tour after a pre-season hampered by a ‘minor injury’, according to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The 26-year-old then flew straight to Belgium to meet with his agent on Friday, with transfer negotiations expected to intensify in the coming hours.
