Tammy Abraham emulated his manager in their 3-1 win over Luton on Sunday, becoming the first Englishman since Frank Lampard to net an FA Cup hat-trick for the Blues.
Lampard’s side will face Barnsley in the next round in a couple of weeks. They will now turn their attentions back to the Premier League, as they face Wolves in midweek.
Meanwhile, Luton will return to Championship action next weekend, as they travel to Blackburn Rovers.
Chelsea defeats Luton thanks to a hat-trick from Abraham, to book their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
The Blues dominated the game and led 2-1 at half-time, with two early goals from Abraham before Clark pulled one back.
Chelsea then secured the win when Abraham got his third on 74 minutes.
Speaking to press after game: “It’s great to score a hat-trick and win the game so comfortably,” Abraham told BBC Sports
“It is always nice to get a win and play well. Hopefully, we can take that morale onto the next game.”
Abraham’s took his goal tally to 11 in all competitions this season, making him Chelsea’s top scorer.
After bagging 18 last season, he became the first Chelsea youth team product to score 10 or more goals in back-to-back seasons since Michael Fillery in 1982-83.
They could have made it four late on, but Werner was denied from the penalty spot by Sluga.
Werner wasn’t the only Chelsea player to leave the pitch disappointed despite the win.
Given an unusual opportunity to start since Edouard Mendy’s summer arrival, Kepa Arrizabalaga made one fine save in the second half but was beaten by a shot from Jordan Clark which he arguably should have stopped.
