Inter 1-2 Juventus: Ronaldo brace gives Old Lady first-leg advantage over Nerazzurri

Juventus take a valuable lead into the second leg.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice to fire Juventus to a 2-1 comeback win over Inter Milan in a hard-fought Coppa Italia semi-final first leg clash at San Siro on Tuesday.

Despite Martinez putting the Nerazzurri in front on nine minutes, Ronaldo smashed the equaliser from the spot 17 minutes later following intervention from VAR.

The Portuguese star added his second shortly after, rounding Handanovic to punish a defensive mishap.

Although Conte’s side pressed for an equaliser in the second half, they could not break down Juventus, who held on to claim a first-leg victory.

Prior these two sides meet again for the second leg tie at Allianz Stadium, Inter travels to Fiorentina in Serie A.

While Juventus, on the other hand, play host to third-placed Roma in their next league game.

Inter, was without suspended top scorer Romelu Lukaku, as they pushed for an equaliser but couldn’t find a way past 43-year-old goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.

The Italian delivered a superb save to deny Matteo Darmian on the 1,100th senior appearance of his career for club and country.

Nine players were booked in the fiery clash as Andrea Pirlo’s side gained revenge for their 2-0 Serie A defeat in this fixture, known as the ‘Derby of Italy’, last month.

Juventus, who finished as runners-up last year, play host to Inter in the second leg in Turin on Tuesday, February the 9th and the winner will face either Napoli or Atalanta in the final.
