Inter Milan are seven points clear at the top of Serie A with a resounding 3-0 victory over Genoa.
The result takes Antonio Conte’s men seven points clear of AC Milan and 10 clear of Juventus, who’s nine-year Scudetto dynasty look under real threat.
Romelu Lukaku was at the heart of all that was good for Inter after opening the scoring within a minute before setting up the second and third former fellow Manchester United old boys Matteo Darmian and Alexis Sanchez in the second half.
Inter dominated this one from start to finish and quickly inscribed their authority on the game when Lukaku’s precise effort from 20 yards beat Perin within a minute.
From there Inter piled more pressure on the visitors with Perin being forced into several impressive saves to maintain the score to one at the break.
It took Inter just 32 seconds to take the lead as in-form striker Romelu Lukaku picked up the ball on the half-way line, drove forward and smartly finished with his right foot to take him ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo in the Serie A scoring charts on 18 goals.
The Belgian then teed up another former Red Devil as he laid it on a plate for Matteo Darmian to fire home in the 69th minute.
But the hosts weren’t to be denied in the second half and they secured the points when another Lukaku run set up Darmian for the second.
There was still time for Sanchez to make it three as well when he nodded in after Perin had denied Lukaku effort.
Genoa offered little going forward and they’ll just be relieved that this one is over, as Inter ran out clear winners.
Genoa drops to the 13th.
