Real Madrid 2-0 Eibar: Asensio and Benzema strike ensure Los Blancos cut the gap on leaders Atletico Madrid to three points

Asensio and Benzema seal a 2-0 win for Real Madrid over Eibar.

The hosts broke the deadlock in the 41st minute when Asensio lifted a shot over Dmitrovic from the edge of the box which nestled into the bottom corner.

Benzema then added a second when he nodded his free header into the back of the net.

His 18th goal in LaLiga. He has scored nine in his last seven matches and has 24 now in all competitions.

Madrid also had three goals ruled out for offside and Asensio hit the bar with a free-kick in the first half.

Madrid into second, above Barcelona, just three points behind Atletico, but neither side has played yet this weekend.

Their attention now turns to the Champions League though and their quarter-final against Liverpool.

Eibar miss the chance to move out of the relegation zone and are now winless in their last 12 league games, with Levante up next for them.
