Chelsea 2-0 Fulham: Kai Havertz stars as Blues go six points clear of fifth-placed West Ham to strengthen their grip on top four

Chelsea close the gap on third-placed Leicester City to just two points with a 2-0 victory over Fulham, thanks to a brace from Havertz.

They led 1-0 at the break and they doubled their lead just four minutes after the restart, after a one-two between Werner and Havertz, with the latter coolly finishing.

Fulham struggled to test Chelsea in the second half and in the end, it was a comfortable win for the hosts.

In one exquisite moment, he killed that hopeful ball from the Brazilian dead.

In doing so, he bewildered Joachim Andersen and Ola Aina, who were suddenly too deep and allowing Mount too much space, having assumed he couldn’t possibly execute such a precise touch so quickly.

Mount then simply fed Kai Havertz, who took a touch and put Chelsea in the lead on 10 minutes.

These two stood out here and Tuchel lavished them with praise, Mount especially. ‘He has the full package, mentally, talent-wise, physically and most importantly character.

Chelsea will now turn their attentions back to the Champions League as they welcome Real Madrid in their semi-final second leg on Wednesday.

Meanwhile it looks very bleak at the bottom for Fulham, who are 18th, nine points adrift of safety. They will face Burnley next time out.
