England continue their record of not losing their last match before an international tournament.
Rashford’s penalty proved to be the difference between them and Romania in the end, although it should really have been 2-0 as Henderson missed his own spot-kick.
Romania were rough and ready and could have snatched a draw on another day.
England weren’t entirely convincing here but they’ll be satisfied with how they upped their game in the second half.
Grealish will be in Southgate’s thoughts to start England’s first Euro 2020 game against Croatia after creating the winning goal, while Ward-Prowse did all he could to play his way into the final squad. It’s all up to Southgate now.
With their friendlies all done and dusted now, England will start their final preparations for their Euros opener. You sense there’s plenty more to come from the Three Lions, whoever starts against Croatia next week.
