Georginio Wijnaldum ‘signs three-year contract to join Paris Saint-Germain

Georginio Wijnaldum has reportedly made his move to Paris Saint-Germain official after signing a contract with the French giants, with his summer switch set to take effect at the expiration of his Liverpool deal at the end of the month.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side made a dramatic swoop for the Dutch international, who had been set to leave Anfield for Barcelona, only for the Catalonians to be gazumped by their French rivals.

PSG offered more than double the salary that cash-strapped Barca placed on the table and following a phone call with Pochettino, Wijnaldum abandoned plans to move to Spain and turned to Paris as an alternative option.

And according to The Guardian, the 30-year-old has now signed a three-year contract to join the Parisians and the move will be sealed subject to a medical.

Wijnaldum waves goodbye to Liverpool after five years at Anfield. The Dutchman has lifted the Premier League and Champions League during his time in Merseyside, playing 237 games for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Meanwhile, Barca have turned their attentions to capturing Memphis Depay. The Dutch international has long been a target of Ronald Koeman’s and, like Wijnaldum, his contract has expired this season.

Barcelona are hoping to seal a free transfer for the 27-year-old as soon as possible and avoid being usurped to the attacker’s signature.
