Italy progress to the semi-finals of Euro 2020 with an excellent 2-1 victory over Belgium, in a game full of chances.
Barella and Insigne got on the scoresheet for Italy, both producing superb finishes to fire Italy 2-0 ahead, but Lukaku pulled one back just before the break from the penalty spot.
Lukaku stepped up to score, his 64th goal in 97 appearances for his country. It was the last kick of the first half and the Italians were still protesting as they went in for the interval.
The intensity dropped slightly as the teams returned. Italy leaned once again on their defensive expertise and broke up play. Belgium found it difficult to create any rhythm.
Belgium then pushed forward in search of an equaliser in the second period, with Lukaku going the closest, but his effort was brilliantly blocked on the line by Spinazzola.
The Italian defence then used all of their experience to stand firm and hold on for the win.
It’s disappointing for Belgium who have exited the tournament at the same stage as they did five years ago.
Italy progress and they will now face Spain in the semi-finals at Wembley on Tuesday.
