Bruno Fernandes wins Premier League’s Player of the Month award for February

Bruno Fernandes has been crowned the Premier League’s Player of the Month for February.

The Portuguese playmaker has made an instant impact at Old Trafford since completing his £68million move on January 29.

And it didn’t take long for the 25-year-old to announce himself in the league after putting in an energetic display on his debut in the goalless draw with Wolves.

Over a fortnight later, Fernandes would go on to star in an impressive 2-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Fernandes picked up an assist against the Blues, leaving United fans eagerly anticipating his next appearance for the club.

The following week saw Fernandes notch his first goal for the club in the 3-0 win against Watford, where he scored a penalty just before the interval. He would then go on to set up Mason Greenwood to score the third goal.

The Portugal international beat Marcos Alonso, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Matt Doherty to the award.

The former Sporting skipper has helped rejuvenate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side but has seen any momentum halted due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

While his impact is clear to see, Fernandes insists the turnaround in the club’s fortunes isn’t just all down to him.

Fernandes, 25, told Sky Sports: ‘We can talk about a new start after Bruno, but it’s not about Bruno, it’s about the team.

‘One player doesn’t change a team. A team changes when everyone pushes together for the same side.’
