Lewis Hamilton wins Hungarian Grand Prix overtakes Max Verstappen to top World Championship standings

Lewis Hamilton perseverance paid off right at the end as he overtook Max Verstappen on Lap 67 to win the Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring in Budapest.

After winning the race of the season so far at the German Grand Prix last week, Verstappen seemed to have held his nerve after leading from the start, but Mercedes’ superior pit stop strategy paid off as Hamilton overtook the Dutchman down the home straight with three laps remaining.

Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel overtook teammate Charles Leclerc with one lap to go to make the podium in third, while Hamilton’s Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas finished in eighth after struggles early on in the race.
