Nick Kyrgios KICKED OUT of Italian Open after throwing chair across the court, smashing his racket and yelling

Nick Kyrgios has been kicked out of the Italian Open after he threw a chair onto the court and verbally abused officials during a furious outburst on Thursday.

The volatile Australian was playing his second-round match against Norway’s Casper Ruud at the Foro Italico and had levelled the clash at one set all after losing the opener.

But, after being given a game penalty to trail 2-1, reportedly for swearing, Kyrgios hurled a chair onto the court, packed up his bag and walked off the court, with the umpire awarding the match to Ruud.

July 2015 – Accused of ‘tanking’ (not playing up to his ability) when losing to Richard Gasquet.

August 2015 – Fined $13,127 and given a suspended 28-day ban for insulting Stan Wawrinka.

June 2016 – Pulled out of 2016 Olympic Games in Rio as he accused the Australian Olympic Committee of ‘unfair and unjust treatment’ and ‘unwarranted attacks’.

October 2016 – Fined $32,900 for ‘lack of best efforts’ when losing to Mischa Zverev at Shanghai Rolex Masters.

June 2018 – Fined after he was caught on TV mimicking a sex act with a water bottle during a change of ends at the Fever-Tree Championships. The BBC was forced to apologise to viewers.

February 2019 – Kyrgios did not break the rules but left Rafael Nadal distinctly unimpressed after attempting an underarm serve during a clash with the Spaniard at the ATP Tour event in Acapulco.

After appearing to question something with an official, footage shows Kyrgios furiously smashed his racket into the ground before kicking something along the floor.

As he made his way back to his court-side seat, the Australian then picked up a chair and threw it onto the court while the Italian crowd booed.

He then sat down before instantly returning to his feet and protesting further. He said: ‘F****** retard bro. Why are you walking across court as I am serving? I don’t want to play. Why would I play?

‘I am giving 100 per cent to deal with f****** idiots like him, I’m done. I’m f****** done. I’m f****** done with it. I don’t give a f***.’

There seems to be some suggestion that he was put off during his serve by somebody in the stadium.

Kyrgios will now forfeit all of the prize money he won at the event and will have to give up his complimentary hotel.

Kyrgios’ antics came only 24 hours after he laid into the sport’s biggest stars in an interview on the No Challenges Remaining podcast, saying he ‘could not stand’ Novak Djokovic and calling Rafael Nadal ‘super salty’.
