Real-madrid 1-2 Levante: Galaticos run without a win extended to five games following defeat to spirited Levante side

Real Madrid woeful form continued on Saturday as they were beaten 2-1 at home by Levante.

Julen Lopetegui’s side have now gone five games without winning and had endured the worst goal drought in their history – 481 minutes – before Marcelo scored in the second half.

A spirited Levante side took the lead when Jose Luis Morales rounded Thibaut Courtois and finished confidently.

Levante then doubled their advantage in unusual circumstances, with the visitors initially awarded a free-kick only to be given a penalty instead after VAR was consulted. Roger Marti stepped up to convert the spot-kick.

Real had a goal ruled out when Marco Asensio was deemed to be offside and then Mariano Diaz’s effort rattled the crossbar.

However, Levante also had a goal of their own ruled out just before half-time.

Real bringing on Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema, who had surprisingly not started, in the second half and they managed to reduce the deficit through Marcelo but Levante managed to hold on take all three points, with Mariano having an effort disallowed for offside late on.
