Sevilla beat Liverpool in Boston as clash is disrupt by horror attack on Reds youngster Larouci

Liverpool fell to a narrow defeat by Sevilla in a friendly at Fenway Park that was overshadowed by a needlessly brutal challenge by Joris Gnagnon on Yasser Larouci.

The Sevilla defender kicked 18-year-old Larouci in the leg in the 75th minute to stop play after his side were angry at not getting a free-kick for a challenge by Dejan Lovren.

Larouci stayed down and was taken off of the pitch on a stretcher with Jurgen Klopp and the Liverpool coaching staff raging on the sidelines.

‘Seeing it again, it is a disgrace,’ James Milner said after the match. ‘There were some disgraceful tackles. ‘They said we should have put it out but it is up to the referee.

If you want to foul, pull a shirt. Don’t take a young lad by the knee.’ Klopp said afterwards that Larouci appeared to have avoided a serious injury. ‘It looks like he was lucky,’ Klopp said. ‘Of course, how it always is with these things, we have to wait a little bit.

‘We don’t know 100 percent. It looks like he was lucky, I spoke to the doc and that’s what he said. But we have to see.’

Liverpool’s disdain was compounded in the 90th minute when Alejandro Pozo latched onto a pass by Munir El Haddadi to round Simon Mignolet and score the winner.
